書道体験授業を行いました。
京都ランゲージアカデミーでは授業の一環として、外部講師を招いた「書道特別講座」を実施いたしました。
本講座の講師には、書道一段の資格を有する京都の大学生を迎え、書道の歴史的背景から書字用具の解説、筆の執り方など、基礎的な知見を体系的にご指導いただきました。
受講した学生の多くが書道初体験であり、当初は書道の所作に戸惑う様子も見受けられましたが、演習が始まると非常に高い集中力をもって取り組んでおりました。
まずは水書板を用いた基礎練習により筆運びに習熟し、その後、墨汁を用いた本番に挑戦。
学生たちは各自で選定した様々な日本語に試行錯誤を繰り返しながら、懸命に筆を動かしている様子が印象的でした。
講座の最後には、自らの一番の作品を手に記念撮影を行いました。
達成感に満ちた誇らしい表情が見られた生徒たちでした。
本校では語学学習のみならず、このような伝統文化体験を通じて、日本への理解を深める時間を大切にしております。
今後も地域社会や次世代を担う若者との交流を促進し、多角的な視点を持つ国際人材の育成に邁進してまいります。

Report on Japanese Calligraphy (Shodo) Special Workshop
Kyoto Language Academy held a special Japanese calligraphy workshop as part of our cultural curriculum.
For this workshop, we invited university students from Kyoto who hold the “First Dan” rank in calligraphy to serve as guest instructors. The session provided a comprehensive and systematic introduction to Shodo, covering its historical background, the significance of traditional writing tools, and the proper techniques for handling the brush.
For many of our students, this was their first encounter with calligraphy. While some initially showed hesitation regarding the specific etiquette and movements, their focus intensified remarkably once the practical exercises began. The students first practiced their brushwork using water-based practice boards to master the flow of the strokes before attempting their final pieces with traditional sumi ink.
It was truly impressive to witness the students’ dedication as they navigated the complexities of their chosen Japanese characters through a process of trial and error. The workshop concluded with a commemorative photo session, where students proudly displayed their best works. Their expressions, filled with a sense of accomplishment and pride, were a highlight of the day.
At Kyoto Language Academy, we believe that understanding Japan goes beyond language proficiency. We deeply value these opportunities to engage with traditional culture, as they provide a meditative space for deeper cultural insight.
